Real Skifi
The Finnish Ski Collective Rides on Nothing in Stockholm
by Steve Giordano

High on Adventure, March 2016

The Finnish skiing collective Real Skifi, a ski + video outfit, has been dubbed as one of the sport's true innovators. In video Episode 15, below, the group visits a snow-free Stockholm, Sweden. This forces the skiers to be more creative than ever.

Real Skifi hails from Jyväskylä, Finland and consist of riders Verneri Hannula, Ilkka Hannula, Juho Kilkki, director Janne Korpela, and filmer Anton Geier. Their quirky films have been appreciated around the world, establishing the crew as a true innovator within the urban skiing movement. Their episodes are challenging the mainstream films that focus on size and scale. Where others see the urban environment as an obstacle to skiing, the crew sees it as their creative playground. The Finns indulge their fans with never seen before tricks, humor, creativity and technical brilliance.

A hallmark for the Real Skifi films has always been the crew’s relentless hunger for stretching the boundaries of where it is possible to ski. This ambition faced an extreme challenge when the riders found themselves in Stockholm completely without snow. See how these mad professors of skiing, who argueably do more stunts in five minutes than any Hollywood movie, overcame it in this film.
