When You Go Fernie and Kimberley Alpine Resorts

Getting There:
Fernie is located on the southeast corner of the British Columbia Rockies on Highway 3, about 60 kilometers, or 40 miles, from the Alberta and U.S. borders. Air transportation can be arranged to Cranbrook from Calgary on Canadian Regional and Air BC. Calgary is served by most major airlines. Glacier International Airport in Kalispell, Montana is another option. Rental vehicles are available at all three airports. Transfers can also be prearranged from the Calgary and Cranbrook airports. Cranbrook is about an hour's drive from Fernie, and Kalispell is a two-hour drive. The direct drive from Calgary to Fernie or Kimberley takes about three hours. Greyhound buses also serve Fernie from Calgary twice daily. Amtrak provides train service to Kalispell. Shuttles from Fernie to Kimberley can be arranged; travel time between the two resorts is about 1-1/2 hours. Kimberley is about 20 minutes from the Cranbrook airport.Staying There: Ten various accommodations, ranging from those featuring a family atmosphere to high-end lodgings, are available on the mountain at Fernie while a wide variety of hotels, motels, hostels and bed and breakfasts are located in downtown Fernie, a 5-minute drive from the mountain.
